An information meeting about Ilulissat Icefjord was held in Ilimanaq village hall. In addition to citizens from Ilimanaq, administrator Naja Holm, Bjarne Petersen, Head of department at Department of Domestic Affairs, Nature and Environment and the staff from Ilulissat Icefjord Office participated.
Naja Holm informed about the management of Ilulissat Icefjord and the plans for the construction of Ilulissat World Heritage Icefjordstation. Park Ranger Aaron Petersen from Ilulissat Icefjord Office spoke about his work with the daily protection of the ice fjord. The citizens of Ilimanaq also got an insight into the scope of the preserved area, the various facilities in the area, including marked walking trails, pedestrian bridge and the newly constructed information signs, and last but not least, it was discussed what it really means that Ilulissat Icefjord is a procted area and is included on UNESCO's World Heritage List.
There was a great curiosity among the audience, and there was a good dialogue about the region's future and the aspirations of citizens in relation to further development of the area. The Ilimanaq citizen's uttered wishes about an increased focus on the southern side of the Icefjord., To secure an ongoing dialogue with the users of the World Heritage Site, Ilulissat Icefjord Office and Department of Internal Affairs, Science and Environment annually holds at least one open public meeting about the Ilulissat Ice Fjord
